5 Hacks to Better Wellness & Health Habits │ The NYFW Edition

NYFW can get hectic and most don’t tell you about the struggles — because like many jobs, they’re real.

Part consists of not having much time and stretching yourself between shows, locations, and networking opportunities. Then getting home to write all night and edit photos. Missing meals or over eating, once you do get to sit down, is normal. Sleep and rest become a luxury and the harsh cold weather in NYC doesn’t make things easier. Oh hey there blizzard. But most importantly … it’s always worth it

So in light of that → these 5 wellness hacks are sure to help make you feel better and your body will thank you!

Let’s talk body:

→ Be good to all of you!

Find a balance between exercise and relaxing. Your body needs to recover and heal in order to keep elevating and upgrading. Massages, like yoga, are an art form and ancient. The benefits are almost endless and — aside from relieving anxiety and stress — calories are burnt people! Calories. This helps speed up your digestive system too. I highly recommend a session either to start off your fashion week, like I did, or booking yourself a session in the middle or end of it all. You’ve earned it

I booked my session at Tribeca Beauty Spa — once again — and dove into a well earned 60 minute Swedish massage. I picked up a tip from my masseuse friend — to ask for a little more attention on the scalp and head. It feels amazing! Like a whole new level to feeling good.

Beside the wide range of massage techniques Tribeca Beauty Spa offers — they also give one of the best pedicures I’ve experienced in NYC.

→ Meditate to focus on yourself, your path, dreams, and aspirations.

Whether it’s for 10 minutes or an hour. It can be done in bed, in the shower, on top of rooftops, or even collectively — there are even apps for group meditations. Taking a moment and tuning out of your reality will change your perspective when you return. I’m serious. It will strengthen your focus and help balance your thoughts.

If you have time to breathe you have time to meditate. You breathe when you walk. You breathe when you stand. You breathe when you lie down. – Ajahn Amaro

Let’s talk foods:

But first — let me tell you about the benefits of using superfoods in your beauty regime. It works. period.

→ Feeling that sugar crave — replace it with this tip from founder Bobbi Brown

When I come home I’ll take half a grapefruit and put some really good ground cinnamon on and it’s enough.

→ Keep these in your kitchen for a quick — or late night snack. Or let’s be honest that snack which turns into a full meal

➀ Eggs   ➁ Extra virgin olive oil   ➂ Fruit and vegetables   ➃ Organic meat   ➄ Salt

And end with liquids:

→ Drink lots of water! Add lemon slices, it will help…

Lemons are loaded with healthy benefits, and particularly, they’re a great vitamin C food source. One cup of fresh lemon juice provides 187 percent of your daily recommended serving of vitamin C — take that, oranges! Lemon juice also offers up a healthy serving of potassium, magnesium and copper.

All these, collectively, will result in wellness goals. Your body and mind will thank you!!

Wellness is a lifestyle — it’s an active pursuit towards a goal and like most champions, we never stop striving to be better. Consistency is a big part of the journey too. It’s about taking care of your body, mind, and health. This means wellness from the inside out. Whether it’s adapting healthier eating habits or increasing your gym visits — it’s a combination of efforts that gets you the results you want.

Doosts! Be well and healthy — keep conquering and striving to be the best version of yourself that you can be ♥
