The Brilliance and Style of Jackie O.│ Quotes, Fashion, and What You Didn’t Know

I’m highly influenced by the charm, wisdom, and strength of women like Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. It’s the type of woman I aspire to be.

You have to be doing something you enjoy. That is a definition of happiness! – J.

I just — 12.02.16 — watched the newly released film Jackie, staring Natalie Portman, at the Landmark Sunshine Cinemas in New York City. I wanted to illuminate Jackie O’s sense of timeless style → so I turned to Julie Brown NYC to pull my look together with their Grace Coat.

So I kept in mind to be minimalistic with timeless pieces.

One should always dress like a marble column.

Once you can express yourself, you can tell the world what you want from it. All the changes in the world, for good or evil, were first brought about by words.

The trouble with me is that I’m an outsider. And that’s a very hard thing to be in American life.

Respect cause she always kept it ReaL.

[To Oleg Cassini:]

Just make sure no one has exactly the same dress I do … I want all of mine to be original & no fat little woman hopping around in the same dress.

Our culture will become like it was during the medieval times when there truly was a cultural elite. The rest of the people will just watch television, which will be their only frame of reference.

Jackie was a woman of poise, fashion, and the people. She was beautiful and delicate on the outer shell but tough and wise underneath. Furthermore, she knew the value of work. Because of her actions in her days, we today share in them.

What is sad for women of my generation is that they weren’t supposed to work if they had families. What were they going to do when the children are grown – watch the raindrops coming down the window pane?

In addition, many of today’s best kept treasures in New York City like the restoration of Grand Central Station, improvements to Central Park, and the pyramid from Egypt being at the Met Museum are largely due to the efforts of Jackie.

We are the only country in the world that trashes its old buildings. Too late we realize how very much we need them.

Even though people may be well known, they hold in their hearts the emotions of a simple person for the moments that are the most important of those we know on earth: birth, marriage and death.

Most people know about the love story between her and our 35th president, John F. Kennedy. The way it ended was one of the most tragic American stories.

Now, I think that I should have known that he was magic all along. I did know it – but I should have guessed that it would be too much to ask to grow old with and see our children grow up together. So now, he is a legend when he would have preferred to be a man.

It’s true that she carried on and remarried Greek billionaire Aristotle Onassis — so I wonder when she said this…

The first time you marry for love, the second for money, and the third for companionship.

But I must add…

Aristotle Onassis rescued me at a moment when my life was engulfed with shadows. He brought me into a world where one could find both happiness and love. We lived through many beautiful experiences together which cannot be forgotten, and for which I will be eternally grateful.

But what many don’t know about Jackie is…

She worked as a reporter and photographer. A reporter for the Washington Times-Herald in 1952.

Being a reporter seems a ticket out to the world.

She opened a school in the White House.

According to the History Channel: Onassis turned the White House’s third floor solarium into a nursery school and invited other kids—some of them children of Kennedy administration staff—to attend. The school later grew into a fully operational kindergarten complete with around ten students, professional teachers and even a small collection of rabbits, guinea pigs and other animals.

She was a successful book editor.

According to the History Channel: The former first lady started out as a consulting editor at Viking Press before moving to Doubleday, where she worked as a senior editor until her death in 1994.

An Editor becomes kind of your mother. You expect love and encouragement from an Editor.

But we could never forget…

I am a woman above everything else.

Being away from home gave me the chance to look at myself with a jaundiced eye. I learned not to be ashamed of a real hunger for knowledge, something I had always tried to hide, and I came home glad to start in here again with a love for Europe that I am afraid will never leave me. – J.

Jackie is a legend.
