Modern take on utilitarian aesthetic

Now this is one Army I can be a part of!  One of my favorite Fall trends this season is the military inspired look.  With its fresh new styles, fabrics, patterns and silhouettes, it brings out the style soldier in all of us.  Brands such as Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney, Valentino and Giuseppe Zanotti have been some of my favorites for 2017 with its modern take on utilitarian aesthetic.  I’ve always been drawn to the large gold flat-faced buttons and olive green and black colorways so it’s no surprise that a few military inspired pieces and footwear transcended into my wardrobe this year.  Bold piping, rounded buttons, exaggerated shoulders and chains added to this new (yet older) military look, providing a much-needed refresh to a trend that tends to show itself time and time again.

If you are not sure how to pull off this look or find the military craze a tad overwhelming, try a little basic training by opting for army green separates or a pair of skinny jeans.  Some other simple additions you can also add to you wardrobe are military inspired pieces such as these ankle booties by Christian Louboutin, these newest chain link booties by Bertinni or this chic H&M by H&M shirt I love wearing buttoned up or open with a simple tank top and a pair of skinny jeans.  Whatever your look may be, it’ll you’ll be “standing at ease” while being sure to command “Attention”. 😉
