A New Vision for Henderson

A New Vision for Henderson: Mayoral Candidate Angeles Scorsetti in Conversation with Zeina Kreidieh…
I am excited to hear your thoughts about Henderson.
Let’s get to know you a little better, hear what inspired you to run for mayor, and learn your vision for our city .
1. What inspired you to run for mayor of Henderson? Was there a moment that made you think, “I need to do this”?
My inspiration came from being deeply involved in the Henderson community and listening to residents. Over time, I realized people want leadership that is present, approachable, and focused on real quality-of-life issues — safety, small businesses, families, and smart growth.
The moment that really made me decide was attending community events and hearing the same concerns again and again. People felt unheard. I knew I had the experience as a businesswoman, community member, and problem-solver to step forward and help bring people together. That’s when I decided — instead of just participating, I wanted to lead and make a real difference.
2. Was there a personal experience or story in your life that pushed you toward public service?
Living in Henderson has given me a firsthand understanding of what makes this city special — strong neighborhoods, families, small businesses, and a real sense of community. Being part of daily life here, attending local events, and speaking with residents has allowed me to hear directly what people care about most: safety, responsible growth, quality schools, and preserving Henderson’s character.
It also showed me that leadership matters at the local level. When you live in in the community, you see both the opportunities and the challenges up close — traffic, growth, support for local businesses, and keeping neighborhoods safe and clean. Those experiences made me want to step forward and help guide the city’s future in a thoughtful and balanced way.
Henderson isn’t just where I live — it’s my community. That connection is what motivated me to lead, listen, and work to keep Henderson a great place for families today and for the next generation.
3. What’s your “big dream” for Henderson, the one that excites you every day about this campaign?
My big dream for Henderson is to build a city that keeps its strong community feel while becoming one of the best places in America to live, work, and raise a family. I want Henderson to grow in a smart, balanced way — supporting small businesses, attracting quality jobs, maintaining safe neighborhoods, and protecting the lifestyle residents love.
What excites me every day is the opportunity to bring people together around that vision. I see a Henderson where families feel supported, local businesses thrive, parks and public spaces are vibrant, and growth is thoughtful — not rushed. A city that is economically strong but still personal and connected.
I’m inspired by the idea that we can preserve what makes Henderson special while building an even brighter future — more opportunity, more community engagement, and leadership that listens. That’s the dream that drives me every day in this campaign.
4. If you had a magic wand for one day as mayor, what’s the first thing you’d fix?
If I had a magic wand for one day as mayor, the first thing I would fix is ensuring growth is smart, balanced, and truly benefits residents. Henderson is growing quickly, and while growth brings opportunity, it must be managed carefully so we protect quality of life — traffic, infrastructure, public safety, and neighborhood character.
I would immediately focus on aligning development with infrastructure — making sure roads, parks, schools, and public safety services grow at the same pace as new development. Residents shouldn’t feel like growth is happening faster than the city can support.
My priority would be simple: protect what people love about Henderson while planning responsibly for the future. That means thoughtful development, strong neighborhoods, and making sure every decision improves daily life for residents.
5. What neighborhood spot makes you feel happiest in Henderson?
One of the neighborhood spots that makes me happiest in Henderson is being out at local community events — especially farmers markets, parks, and family-friendly gatherings. Those are the places where you really see the heart of Henderson: families spending time together, small businesses connecting with residents, and neighbors talking with each other.
Whether it’s walking through a weekend market, visiting a local park, or attending a community festival, those moments remind me why Henderson is so special. It’s not just about the location — it’s about the people, the energy, and the sense of community.
Those experiences are also what inspire me to run — seeing residents engaged, supporting local businesses, and enjoying their city. That’s the Henderson I want to protect and continue building for the future.
6.How would you support local businesses through economic ups and downs and projects that affect traffic and customers?
I would support local businesses by making sure they’re not left behind during economic ups and downs or major projects that impact traffic and customers. Small businesses are the backbone of Henderson, and they deserve clear communication, practical support, and a city that works with them — not around them.
First, I would prioritize better communication. When construction or road projects are planned, businesses should receive early notice, timelines, and regular updates so they can prepare and adjust.
Second, I would work to minimize disruption. That means coordinating construction schedules, improving signage directing customers to open businesses, and ensuring access and parking remain available whenever possible.
Third, I would promote impacted businesses. The city can help highlight “open during construction” campaigns, promote local shopping, and partner with chambers and community groups to drive traffic back to those areas.
Finally, I would focus on long-term stability — supporting small business resources, streamlining permitting, and creating a business-friendly environment so entrepreneurs can weather economic changes and continue growing in Henderson.
When local businesses succeed, Henderson succeeds.

7. Cost of Living: Many families are feeling the pinch with higher prices on groceries and everyday goods — how would you support residents with cost-of-living challenges?
Many families in Henderson are feeling the pressure of rising costs, and I believe city leadership should focus on practical ways to help ease that burden. While cities don’t control inflation, we can make smart local decisions that lower everyday costs and support working families.
First, I would support local job growth and small businesses. A strong local economy creates more opportunities and helps keep money circulating in our community, which benefits residents and stabilizes costs over time.
Second, I would focus on efficient city services. Keeping government spending responsible and transparent helps avoid unnecessary fee increases and protects taxpayers.
Third, I would prioritize smart growth and infrastructure planning. When growth is well-managed, we reduce traffic, improve access to services, and avoid costly delays that can drive up everyday expenses.
Finally, I would support community-focused initiatives — family events, parks, local markets, and partnerships that help residents access affordable options close to home.
My goal is simple: make Henderson a place where families can thrive, businesses can grow, and the cost of living stays as manageable as possible.
As we close, one thought remains :
